Our history

Present
At the end of 2019, the first bottles for aging were presented,
maturing in French and American oak barrels, thus highlighting the benefits of the varieties and adding notes of complexity thanks to the oak.
The winery is currently run by Valentina Iudica, her son Emiliano and her daughter Candela.

Growth
In 2014, the family suffered the loss of Don Miguel, but his legacy continued, with his daughter Valentina and his wife Susana in charge. A few years later, his grandson Emiliano joined the family, thus becoming the third generation in the winery, trying to learn from the experience of the elders and trying to contribute his share of freshness, typical of youth.
In 2015, new technologies and infrastructures were incorporated that
allowed bottle production to begin and since then the winery defends
these two fronts: demijohn and bottle

Beginnings

At first, the winery specialized in selling bulk wines and, with the arrival of his daughter Valentina, he began bottling wines in demijohns, which were then sold by Don Miguel’s wife and Valentina’s mother, Susana. It wasn’t easy, but the challenge they faced was captivating. With great determination, learning day by day and improving, they managed to win over the demanding Argentine palate, selling them with great pride throughout the country.

Foundation

The winery was founded in 1965 by Don Miguel Iudica with the help of his wife, Susana Genesoni Varaschin, who was descended from a long family of wine producers. His relationship with wine dates back to the early 1960s, having worked in the most renowned wineries of the time, always with the dream of having his own.
So, with a lot of effort and vision, in 1961 he began to buy his first land and then began to cultivate it with vines. As time went by, he began to realize the need to have his own winery, to be able to make his own wines. And that is how he began the construction of this, finishing the work and opening his own establishment in 1965. Despite the great difficulties that arose in the context of the country, he always overcame obstacles, managing to grow even in times of great crisis.

About Us
Valentina
The only daughter of Miguel Iudica, she took over the winery in 1997, although she spent her whole life around vineyards and winery talks.
She is an economist, all the numbers of our company go through her head.
She is the one in charge of our entire project, and although there is no decision that is not consulted with her, she always trusts the opinion of her children to try to make the most of new ideas together with the confidence and great experience that she has and that her father was able to transmit to her.
Valentina is a sensitive soul, always attentive to the needs of others, very hard-working and happy with her people.
Her favorite varietal is Malbec, especially when it comes to aged wines.
Emiliano
Our grandfather Miguel took him to learn how to irrigate the farms from the age of 7, and at the age of 15 he was in his first harvest.
Every chance he got, he would sneak off to the winery to see what was going on.
Passionate about wine, crazy about the farms and the winery, Emi is the one behind the style of our wines, and the creativity of our brands. He is always thinking about Viña Alta and seeing how we can improve.
You can see him around the winery offering wine to anyone who passes by, talking to everyone and thinking of some crazy ideas for the future.
His favorite food is his grandmother’s Lasagna and his favorite varietal is Ancellotta, although he is in love with criollas.
Candela
Candela has always enjoyed spending her weekends at our country inn with her grandparents and siblings.
Once she graduated as an Industrial Engineer, she began to contribute all her knowledge to our winery. Candela is in charge of doing the most important but not so well-known work in the winery, taking care of all the stock for the aging of our wines, purchasing all the supplies, quality control, and always, maintaining order in our winery.
She is a very cheerful person, always willing to find a way around problems and solve them, with optimism and as a team.
She is also a great cook and continues to enjoy family gatherings at our inn.
She does not have a favorite varietal, but she is a fan of our white, orange and rosé wines.
